Your Input on the Next Article Series

As you know, my year-long 60 for 60 article series is coming to a close next week. I’ve really enjoyed putting it together, and during the process, I’ve discovered that an article series published in monthly increments is a schedule that works well for me. I have several ideas for article series that I would like to do, and now I’m trying to decide which I should do first. 

I’d like to get your input, so here is a Twitter poll, and blog comments are more than welcome as well:

My preference would be to start with the Muppet movies because (a) it’s the 40th anniversary of the original movie and (b) I enjoy the movies infinitely more than the 2015 series.

But then I thought about it, and it occurred to me that if/when Muppets 2015 goes up on Disney+, the powers that be may take it down from the ABC site. I wouldn’t pay money for a Disney+ subscription even if I could, so there may be a window of opportunity to review the 2015 series again that could soon be closing. So I feel sort of obligated to do the 2015 series first even though I really don’t want to. 

I won’t promise to abide by the prevailing opinion, but I would like to know what you think nevertheless. Please share.

    I don’t have Twitter so I can’t vote in your poll, but you could register one “meh” vote against the 2015 series on my behalf.

    • Yeah, that’s still in the works. I’ve started drafting it, but I’m going to have to go back and do some more research, and that’s going to take some time. But I’m glad to hear there’s an interest in it.

      I share your opinion of the 2015 series. Ultimately, I decided to take a third option and run two concurrent article series in which I review the TV show one month and the movies the next, and so on according to an alternating schedule. Otherwise, I suspect that devoting a year or more of my life to watching and reviewing a series that I really do not enjoy at all would slowly devour my soul.

      • It’s your blog, but if you don’t want your soul devoured by the 2015 series, are there no other topics you could cover? 15 best Muppet character pairings of all time? “Before & after” analysis of every recasting ever? A set of psychological studies on the characters of Dave Goelz?

        • Wait, I have it! What about a series covering all the pre-Muppet Show pilots/features/specials, tracking the evolution of characters, themes and formats from the early days leading right up to the 1976 series? Start with Tinkerdee, Hey Cinderella, Great Santa Claus Switch, Frog Prince, Muppet Musicians of Bremen, up to the Valentine Show and Sex and Violence… maybe I missed some. You could even give it a Kermit focus since I’m pretty sure he appears in all of them.

          I’d read that, anyway.
