About two weeks ago, I wrote and posted a tweet that was racially insensitive. It was an act of thoughtlessness rather than of malice, but that does not make it less inappropriate, nor does it absolve me of any guilt or responsibility. 

When I realized the unfortunate and unintended implications of my words, I promptly deleted the tweet. It was up for a only matter of minutes, but that may have been long enough to cause damage.

I’m not going to recreate the tweet because that would defeat the purpose of deleting it, but to anyone who saw it and was hurt by it, I apologize wholeheartedly and unconditionally. 

I can do better, and I WILL do better.
