Watch your back, Mark. Star Wars is a Disney property now, and at Disney, nothing is sacred, everyone is expendable, and expressing opinions about a character you’ve played and/or been associated with for decades is considered “unacceptable business conduct.” If Kermit the flippin’ Frog is fair game, so is Luke Skywalker.

I found myself even acting this way over a Star Trek character. The great Harry Mudd played by Roger C. Carmel from 1966 – 1967 And now on Star Trek Discovery his character has been revived. It’ nothing like the original, but it’s no one’s fault except for time and a new style of writing. Mr. Carmel passed away in 1986 The new one isn’t funny but is sinister and mean. Harcourt Fenton “Harry” Mudd, is now played in Star Trek: Discovery by Rainn Wilson.

Hmm. How odd that they took a character that was known for being funny, and hired an actor to play him who is known for comedy, and then go in a noncomedic direction with it. And yet, I bet Rainn Wilson is good at that. I always thought he came across as sort of creepy, even when he was playing funny characters.
I haven’t seen Star Trek: Discovery yet. Apart from Harry Mudd, what do you think of it? My understanding is that it takes place between the Original Series and the Next Generation, and if it has Harry Mudd on it, it’s probably closer chronologically to the Original Series, although it sounds like it’s pretty far away from the Original Series tonally (not necessarily a bad thing, in my opinion).

Not “retired,” exactly. More like “on hiatus.”
My thought was that I had something specifically fragglish or sesameic to say, I would do it on those days but not go out of my way trying to think of something. It’s funny that you asked me that today, though, because I actually had a thought of a Fraggle-related thing I could post today if I have time later. I don’t have time right now. 🙂
