We’re in the home stretch now! It’s day eleven of the 12 Days of Muppet Christmas, and we’re looking at the two gentlemen in each production who attempt to persuade Scrooge to donate to charity

As funny as Bunsen and Beaker are as the charitable gentlemen, they also come across as a little naive. Having some vague idea of the horrid conditions in the prisons and workhouses that Scrooge supports, it’s hard for me to imagine that anyone who was truly charitably minded in 19th-century London would have laughed off a mention of them. Therefore, it is with a great deal of regret that I must choose the charitable gentlemen in Christmas Carol ’99 for today’s pick.
